This practical and engaging professional learning day will explore the opportunities, challenges, and classroom-ready strategies for catering for all learners in mainstream mathematics classrooms. Drawing on research and extensive classroom experience, Peter Sullivan and Michaela Epstein will share approaches that help teachers create inclusive mathematics lessons where all students can participate, think deeply, and experience success. Participants will explore how rich mathematical tasks can provide multiple entry points, allowing students of varying abilities to engage in the same learning experience while maintaining high expectations for all.

A special focus of the day will be on enriching the mathematics experience for high-achieving learners. Peter and Michaela will demonstrate how challenging tasks, problem-solving opportunities, and mathematical investigations can extend students’ thinking without the need for separate programs. Teachers will gain practical strategies for fostering reasoning, creativity, persistence, and deeper mathematical understanding while ensuring that all students remain connected to the core learning.
